Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)

This guy was easy to shoot. He was just floating in the breeze moving pretty slowly. I do need a longer reach. I used high speed crop mode, and I still cropped the picture significantly in photoshop.

I went out looking for a new birding spot. This doesn’t seem to be a very good one.

I finally got the adapter to mount the 63mm on my Nikon, but I ran into a slight problem. The lens goes back too far into the camera, and it’s focusing past infinity. That, and it’s so far back that the mirror would hit the lens. (No mirrors were damaged in the discovery of that fact) I need to space it forward a half inch or so. So the Ultraviolet images will have to wait another couple weeks while I find some parts to make it work.

I also found that I like photoshops HDR better than photomatix. It doesn’t look fake or plasticy. But I do need to give it a try on a shot that has a wide difference between the highlights and the shadows.

Not a great shot, but I was playing around with putting a holga lens on my D200. I need to shrink the size of my vignetter. I should probably crop these down to square to make them look more like hogla shots. Not a very good shot, but at least I found that it’ll work.

I got my flash today, but I ran into a few problems with it. It won’t fire with a remote cord or with my SU-4. I have to buy a special pc to vivitar cable to be able to fire it off the camera. This little project I’m doing is nickel and dimeing me to death.

I also need to figure out how to take it apart. I have some moding to do with this flash.
